These artworks are the most difficult to execute and the most complex: they express a theme that is emerging slowly: that of my own Anima.
Although this is traditionally viewed as the feminine aspect within the male psyche, I feel my own female aspect has been supressed by a toxic combination of Afrikaaner patriarchy and the angry, unfeminine feminism that was most prevalent in my formative years.
To find and glorify my own inner Goddess persona, that is whole and beautiful, is a very personal process but one that I increasingly find I share with so many women of my age. It is therefore an intuitive and cathartic creative process that results in many works remaining incomplete over long periods of time because I struggle to find the completing elements. This is why there is still so little here, but why there is so much of it waiting in my studio.
